I really like Salisbury Steak and this turned out better than I expected. The wife even liked it. My only comment is wish they would have said how many oz to divide the portions into.

Thought it was really tender and tasted well. I didn't understand why there needs to add tomato paste but since it was my first time making it, I didn't veer off too much. I added garlic toward the end and a little more worchestershire. I loved that it was easy to make.

This dish turned out wonderful. I was skeptical because my husband is picky and will not eat turkey breast and my kids do not like onions. They loved it and wanted seconds!! Will definitely be making these again instead of buying the store bought salisbury steaks!! Homemade is sooo much better and healthier.

We loved this recipe. Had to use bacon & bean soup because it's what I had on hand; now I'll always use that. Also used red wine instead of what was called for. Served with whole wheat rolls and green beans. Froze the leftover burgers in individual containers.

Easy, fast, and delicious homey meal, but not a special occasion or company sort of thing unless your company are really down-home meat and potatoes types. I used all ground turkey to cut calories (but not ground turkey breast, which is too pale and dry alone) and substituted Campbell's Beefy Mushroom Soup, which has a wonderfully rich flavor, I think much better than French Onion. Served with steamed red potatoes and some green and yellow wax-beans, also steamed.

This was So good! I made it basically as directed, but made the following changes based on what I had on hand and what my family likes/dislikes. I used beef consomme in place of the onion soup, and I didn't have any wine or sherry. I also added quit a bit of seasoning, both to the meat and the sauce- onion and garlic powder, seasoning salt and a decent amount of black pepper and crushed red pepper. ( we like things spicy). I served it with roasted potatoes and salad.

We really liked this recipe too. I substituted Italian ground turkey - which added flavor and less of a hamburger taste. I used everything else in the recipe but was out of sherry so substituted white wine. Not really noticeable anyway. Liked the hearty flavor of the onion soup and tomato paste together. Served with mashed potatoes and green beans.

Turned out great. I did change a little. I made this for my boyfriend and his brother whom they both don't like onions or mushrooms so I used cream of celery instead of the onion soup. I used all lean ground sirloin and I added about 6 T of cooking sherry to mask the tomato paste.Next time instead of using 3 T of tomato paste I'll use 2. I also used homemade breadcrumbs with 100% whole wheat bread. Overall great recipes and lo-cal which was even better. Served with oven roasted potatos and carrots.

This needs something to punch up the flavor, the meat needs some season and I suggest adding mushrooms to the sauce. Maybe add a sprig of rosemary to the sauce while its cooking.

I loved the consistency of the patties with the bread crumbs and egg whites-will definitely use again. They kept a good shape and didn't shrink too much. However, I didn't enjoy the sauce. I usually love recipes that get at least a 4 to 5 star rating, but wasn't thrilled with this. I cook a lot and do not usually use canned soup, I wonder if the french onion soup is what turned me off to this? My husband didn't hate it, but I don't think it will be on the rotation...

Not traditional Salisbury steak as there were no mushrooms. But it made a very tangy, interesting sauce that I liked even better. And so easy. It's not the most gorgeous meal when plated so i'd probably not serve it for company. I roasted some potatoes and carrots to serve alongside. I'll add this to my regular rotation.

I really enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and will make it again for a weekday meal. I utilized beef consomme instead of the french onion soup as the recipe calls. This probably greatly reduced the sodium in this recipe as Campbell soups are known for high sodium content. I thinly sliced my own onions and used some corn starch to thicken the sauce a bit more. I probably will add some spices to the beef/turkey mixture next time to give the meat a more hearty flavor.

What does Salisbury steak consist of? ›

How do you hold ground beef together? ›

Add 1 egg yolk per pound of hamburger. It won't add appreciably to the fat content and will bind the meat beautifully. What is difference between Salisbury steak and hamburger steak? ›

Salisbury steak traditionally calls for ground sirloin, which is a lean cut of beef known for its tenderness. What cut of meat is used for Salisbury steak? ›
